bring up - to care for a child until he or she is an adult, often giving him or her particular beliefs

She brought up her children in just the same way her mother did.

 

carry on - to continue doing something

Steve just carried on playing on his computer, although I asked him to do the washing up.

She'll find herself with no friends at all if she carries on behaving like this.

 

go through - to experience a difficult or unpleasant situation

She's going through a difficult time with her job.

 

grow up - to gradually become an adult

Taking responsibility for yourself is part of the process of growing up.

 

look forward to  - to feel happy and excited about something that is going to happen

I'm really looking forward to seeing him.

 

make up for sth -   to compensate for something bad with something good

The flowers are to make up for missing her birthday.

 

Pick on – to criticize, punish, or be unkind to the same person often and unfairly:

He gets picked on by the other boys because he's so small.Pick on – дразнить, критиковать, задирать

 

put up with – to accept an unpleasant situation or person without complaining.

He’s really rude to her – I don’t know how she puts up with him.

 

tell off - to speak angrily to someone because they have done something wrong

Their teacher told them off for chattering in the lesson.

 

take out - to go somewhere with someone, and pay for them

Dad's taking the whole family out to the cinema.

 

take after - to be similar to an older member of your family in appearance or character

He takes after his his mother's side of the family.
